On the clamping side, each of the toothed strips (5a, 5b, 6a) has raised clamping ridges (14) behind the teeth (12). Clamping ridge overlap over the corresponding planes (15, 16) of the teeth, is a function of the thickness of the rubber strip sections (9, 10) and lies between about 0,1 and 1 mm. The toothed strips have conically-tapering teeth which can be moved completely into engagement. The tooth shape is trapezoidal and complementary with the gaps (13). Length of the teeth is considerably greater is than their spacing. It is preferably about 30 mm, with a spacing of 14 mm. In the initial clamping position, the teeth are already in engagement by several millimeters. Butting edges (11) of the strips (9, 10) are located approximately in the center of the regions of tooth overlap, in the initial position. Clamping ridge surface (20) elevations are structured such that, during opening and closing, any movement between transverse reinforcement cords (23) in the rubber strip is avoided. A variety of possible clamping surface structures is detailed in the disclosure. |
