<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration of image quality and lowering of a compression ratio when a composite image is generated. <P>SOLUTION: An image compositing apparatus 1004 has image input devices 1001, 1002 and a composite map input device 1003 which input encoded image data which have been quantized after being submitted to function conversion for conversion from a spatial area into data represented as a function conversion coefficient value by a set of basis functions, a quantization table and a composite quantization table corresponding to each, and a composite function conversion coefficient data generation processing part 1014 which extracts a plurality of areas from the inputted encoded image data, generates composite quantization function conversion area image data in which the plurality of extracted areas are composited and converts the function conversion coefficient value of each of the plurality of extracted areas based on the quantization table and the composite quantization table corresponding to the areas. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
