An apparatus and a method for controlling call origination using an earphone key are provided to allow a user to conveniently check a phone number of the latest call list and the name of a corresponding caller through a voice outputted from an earphone. An earphone includes an earphone key(236) for outputting key input data according to a key input and an earphone speaker(234) for converting an electrical signal into a voice and outputting it. A memory(202) stores the latest call list including one or more phone numbers. When an earphone key is inputted, a controller(200) outputs the first phone number on the latest call list stored in the memory as an electrical signal through the earphone speaker and performs one of searching of the latest call list and originating a call to a currently outputted phone number according to the number of inputs of the earphone key.
