HOLLOW CARBON FIBER USING HAIR AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

A hollow carbon fiber by using an animal hair and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to easily form a hollow portion and to easily control the diameter of the hollow portion. The animal hair is heated at the oxygen atmosphere until 150 to 300 degrees centigrade and then maintained at the state for 30 minutes to 1 hour as the oxidation process. The animal hair after the oxidation process is heated until 700 to 900 degrees centigrade at the inert gas atmosphere and then maintained at the state for 1 to 3 hours as the carbonization process. At the oxidation process, the diameter of a hollow portion is controlled by controlling the heating speed. The heating speed is 0.1 degree/min to 10 degrees/min. The hollow carbon fiber is manufactured by carbonizing the animal hair. The diameter of the hollow portion in the carbon fiber is preferably 5 to 50 micrometer. The animal hair comprises the hard protein called by Keratin and non-water soluble amino acid.
