An apparatus and a method for executing iterative detection and decoding in a MIMO(Multi-Input Multi-Output) system are provided to prevent performance from being deteriorated due to the use of an inaccurate soft decision value by executing scaling for an approximated soft decision value. An apparatus for executing iterative detection and decoding in a MIMO system comprises a detection part(401), a decoding part(407), and a scaling part(411). The detection part(401) creates the first posterior information by using the signals received through a plurality of antennas. The decoding part(407) decodes the first posterior information, created from the detection part(401), and creates the second posterior information. The scaling part(411), in case the second posterior information is fed back, executes scaling for the second posterior information by using a predetermined scaling vector.
