A purge stream derived from an azeotropic distillation column and containing an entrainer, a hydrocarbon, and an aliphatic acid (e.g. n-propyl acetate, a xylene and acetic acid respectively) is processed using a stripping column to effect separation of the entrainer and the hydrocarbon in order that the entrainer may be recycled to the azeotropic distillation column.
