An optical information processing apparatus and a data processing method therefor are provided to process optical information by using a balanced data array to mutually balance the distribution of on and off pixels of data for processing the optical information. A regenerating unit(160) performs the exclusive-OR operation of original data for record and a predetermined balanced data array to regenerate the original data as regeneration data. An encoding unit(170) encodes the regeneration data regenerated in the regenerating unit(160). An optical system has an optical information detector(150), a decoding unit(180), and a recovering unit(190). The optical system records the regeneration data encoded in the encoding unit(170) in a storing medium.
