Provided are a method for preparing a novel DTPA-bis-amide ligand, a novel DTPA-bis-amide ligand prepared by the method which is increased in solubility, a method for preparing a novel gadolinium (Gd) complex by using the ligand, a novel gadolinium complex prepared by the method, and a contrast medium containing the complex. A DTPA-bis-amide ligand is represented by the formula 1 or 2, wherein R is H, a methyl group or an ethyl group. The DTPA-bis-amide ligand is prepared by adding DTPA-bis-anhydride to N,N-dimethylformamide to stir the mixture; adding trans-4-(aminomethyl)cyclohexanecarboxylic acid to the mixture and stirring the obtained mixture; removing a solvent from the mixture at reduced pressure, adding methanol to dissolve the mixture, and separating it by gel chromatography; and drying the obtained one in vacuum.
