A mold flux for continuous casting which can reduce the preparation cost and can improve the productivity by reducing the content of B2O3 composing the mold flux is provided. In a mold flux for continuous casting, the mold flux comprises 3 wt.% to less than 10 wt.% of B2O3, 25 to 50 wt.% of CaO, 20 to 40 wt.% of SiO2, 0.5 to 20 wt.% of Na2O, more than 0 wt.% to not more than 15 wt.% of Al2O3 and more than 0 wt.% to not more than 10 wt.% of MgO, and does not comprise fluorine(F), wherein the crystallization temperature is proportionally increased as the B2O3 content is increased within a range of the B2O3 content. The mold flux is Ca11Si4B2O22 as a calcium borate silicate crystal phase. The mold flux is in a basicity(CaO/SiO2) range from 0.7 to 22. The mold flux is not influenced by the crystallization behavior by a hydroxyl group(OH^-) in a liquid phase slag. The mold flux can control the viscosity thereof by controlling the content of the Na2O or Al2O3.
