<p>An air conditioner and a control method thereof are provided to compares a target evaporation temperature of an air conditioning cycle in a cooling mode with atmospheric temperature and set target pressure according to the comparison result, thereby preventing stopping of a compressor caused by liquefaction of refrigerant moving from an evaporator to the compressor and low atmospheric temperature. An air conditioner includes an air conditioning cycle formed of an indoor heat exchanger, compressors, expansion elements, an outdoor heat exchanger, and a 4-way valve, and a control unit(100) controls target pressure of the air conditioning cycle according to comparison result between a target evaporation temperature thereof and atmospheric temperature. A pressure conversion temperature calculation part(106) converts a pressure value of the air conditioning cycle to a temperature value. An evaporation temperature sensing part(56) senses a current evaporation temperature.</p> |
