INTEGRATED ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION UNITS FOR ROTARY WING AIRCRAFT

A power plant and transmission arrangement (100) for a helicopter wherein th e helicopter engine (102) is integrated to the helicopter transmission (106) t o form therewith a single unit rigidly mounted to the helicopter frame (110). By so integrating the engine to the helicopter transmission the center of gravi ty of the engine can be placed closer to the rotor mast (112) of the helicopter , thereby enhancing the stability and the handling characteristics of the helicopter.
