EXTERNAL ELECTRODE FLUORESCENT LAMP AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY INCLUDING THE SAME

An external electrode fluorescent lamp and a liquid crystal display including the same are provided to lower current density of electrodes at an edge region by forming an insulating member between both edges of each external electrode and a lamp tube. A lamp tube(110) is disposed to form a discharge space. An external electrode is formed at bath outer circumferences of the lamp tube. An insulating member(124) is formed between an edge part of the external electrode and the lamp tube. A thickness of a region adjacent to an exposed side of the external electrode is different from a thickness of a residual region. The insulating member has a stepped shape. The insulating member is formed of a silicon material. In the insulating member, the region adjacent to the exposed side of the external electrode is thicker than the residual region.
