A coring device, a luminance processor using the same, and a method therefor are provided to apply a coring slope corresponding to a threshold level and produce an output luminance signal corresponding to an input luminance signal. A coring device includes a signal receiving unit and a coring unit. The signal receiving unit receives a luminance signal. The coring unit applies a coring slope corresponding to a threshold luminance level to only an input luminance signal of the predetermined threshold luminance level or more in the luminance signal, and linearly produces an output luminance signal.
