<p>A product management display system for merchandising product on a shelf includesusing a trackless pusher mechanism (14) that travels along a surface (16) on whichproduct is placed. The pusher mechanism (14) of the invention also includes apusher paddle (50) and a floor (52) that extends forward of the pusher paddle (50).A flat coiled spring (30) or other biasing element may be operatively connectedbehind the pusher paddle (50) and extend across the floor of the pusher mechanism(14) and to the front of the shelf. In use, the product to be merchandised may beplaced on the coiled spring (30) and on the floor of the pusher mechanism (14).With this configuration, the pusher paddle (50) is prevented from tipping orbending backwards during operation. The invention may be used with the merchandisingof product on horizontal or non-inclined shelves or surfaces, as well as withgravity-fed systems, or systems that use gravity as a mechanism to urge producttoward the front of the shelf.</p> |
