A media holder for use with a media for use with a media processor, the media holder comprising:
a spool (1310) comprising a winding drum (1310) defining an axis (1340) and a first diameter, a flange (1320) defining a second diameter that is larger than the first diameter; an antenna (1330) located on the flange (1320), wherein the antenna (1320) comprises at least one arcuate portion extending around the axis (1340) of the winding drum (1310); and a memory located on the flange (1320) and disposed in communication with the antenna (1330), the memory configured to store an identification number and an authentication number.
More specifically, the invention relates to an ink cassette or cartridge in a thermal marking apparatus that may be authenticated as being of a suitable type and coming from an authorized source. |
