A system and a method for formatting test data, and a machine-readable medium thereof are provided to prevent available test records from being destroyed or missed by sudden termination of a processed data formatting action when an error is generated while raw data is generated or stored. Each data formatter(214-220) searches test data from a data storage device(210) and generates a plurality of test records based on the test data when a test event is notified. An abort handler(224) enables at least one data formatter to complete generation of the test records based on the current available test data in the data storage device in response to an abort event. The abort event stores current state information for the test event, and provides the current state information to the data formatter requested to complete the generation of the test records when the abort event is received.
