A data output device and a method for controlling data output strength are provided to control the data output strength actively in correspondence to an operation voltage, in order to maintain a constant data sensing speed of an external device receiving data. In a data output device(400) for controlling output strength of an output node by basic output and additional output, a basic output controller(410) controls the basic output of the output node in response to an output data signal. An operation voltage detector(420) generates an operation voltage detection signal corresponding to the range of the operation voltage, by dividing and comparing at least one of an operation voltage of the data output device and a reference voltage. An additional output controller controls the additional output of the output node in response to the operation voltage detection signal and the output data signal.
