PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a deterioration in the quality of a liquid by dispensing with the removal of dissolved gas when the dissolved gas does not have to be removed. SOLUTION: This liquid ejector comprises: a dissolved-gas amount acquiring means for acquiring the amount of the gas dissolved in ink for being supplied to an ink ejection head 50; a degasifier 60 which removes the dissolved gas from the ink supplied to the ink ejection head 50; a three-way valve 62 as a switching means for switching between the passage and nonpassage of the ink, which is to be supplied to the ink ejection head 50, to the degasifier 60; and a control means which performs control for making the three-way valve 62 switch between the passage and nonpassage of the ink, supplied to the ink ejection head 50, to the degasifier 60, on the basis of the amount of the dissolved gas, which is acquired by the dissolved-gas amount acquiring means.
