PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of preventing degradation of a formed image attributable to the difference in the inner circumferential length of a conveying belt. SOLUTION: HP (Home Position) marks at ends in the width direction of a conveying belt 18 are respectively read twice by a HP sensor 12F on the proximal side and a HP sensor 12R on the distal side to calculate the peripheral length differenceΔL between the proximal side (F side) and the distal side (R side) from the time difference. A steering roller adjustment mechanism 22 on the F side or the R side is driven to vertically move the end on the F side or the R side of the steering roller 17. After adjusting the peripheral length by increasing the shorter peripheral length or decreasing the longer peripheral length, the HP mark reading and the peripheral length adjustment are repeated untilΔL becomes zero.
