PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily provide a paper sheet storage device having the function of correctly displaying the remaining amount of paper sheets in the paper sheet storage device in an easily visible manner at low cost even when the paper sheet-stacking amount is differently set. SOLUTION: A paper sheet detection lever 40 is designed so that the turning force is applied counterclockwise by the difference between the weight on the paper sheet side and the weight on the display side across an oscillation supporting point 43. When a fore end part 41a is turned upwardly following the turn of a paper sheet-stacking plate 28, a display side arm part 42 is turned downwardly, a display member 46 slides downwardly following the downward turn thereof, and the remaining amount of paper sheets is displayed. The turning track 28a of a sliding surface 44a (a broken line S1 in the figure) overlaps the track of a turning side end 28a (a broken line S2 in the figure), and the turning side end 28a is located on the turning track of the sliding surface 44a and on the downstream side of the turning direction. Thus, the turn of the paper sheet detection lever 40 is impaired by the turning side end 28a before the paper sheet-stacking plate 28 makes a turn of the predetermined value.
