PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic diagnosis apparatus and its controlling method which enables the selection of image format of proper transmitting capacity according to the communication situation of network and maintaining a time resolution necessary for diagnosis. SOLUTION: The apparatus measures the biological characteristics such as shape of biological tissue, movement characteristics, and nature characteristics, converts the date to image information, and transmits it through the network 7. The communication control section 6 monitors communication situation of network periodically. The image format selecting section 5 selects an image format to be transmitted to an exterior device according to the network communication situation obtained from the communication controlling section.
