PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) apparatus for carrying out the imaging sequence to visualize the behavior of deformation of an object for imaging by using both the tagging sequence and cine-image sequence, monitoring the position of a heart while hardly extending the imaging time. SOLUTION: An echo signal is generated by adding a gradient magnetic field pulse in the tagging sequence. Variation of the position of the imaging object can be monitored by using projection data with the one-dimensional Fourier-converted echo signal. Accordingly, it is not necessary to separately carry out the navigation sequence for monitoring the position variation, and therefore, the imaging time is not extended. Since the influence of the body movement on the cine-image can be removed by monitoring the position variation, the behavior of deformation of the heart can be precisely detected.
