A rotary joint is provided for axially supporting a rotor-magnetic rotor unit (19). Axially adjacent magnets (5,6) have radially opposing north poles on a radially inside member (2) and a radially outside member (3). Pole changing in the axial direction forms a passive axial bearing which acts contactlessly and receives axial forces between the members (2,3).
