<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract colors from a statistical color distribution of a target color when extracting the target color and to accurately discriminate between the target color and colors other than the target color from the color distribution from which the target color has been extracted. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus for extracting a target area to be extracted from a color image includes a candidate pixel extracting part 11 for extracting pixels within a candidate range serving as a candidate containing pixels of the target area, within a space expressing a distribution of pixels of the color image; a candidate pixel clustering part 12 for clustering the distribution of pixels in the candidate range extracted by the candidate pixel extracting part 11; and a cluster selecting part 13 for extracting the target area based on a cluster obtained through the clustering by the candidate pixel clustering part 12. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
