<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lamp for a light source having light emitting diodes as the light source and luminous intensity possible to be increased, and to provide a projector using the lamp for the light source. <P>SOLUTION: The lamp 1 for the light source condenses light from the light source by a lens and emits it. The light source has a main light source 3 and a sub light source 6. The main light source 3 and the sub light source 6 are formed of a plurality of light emitting diodes 32 and 62 which are aligned, and the sub light source 6 is arranged in line and backward in the direction of the light emitted from the main light source 3.
