PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower power consumption without changing the hardware configuration of an image forming apparatus particularly. SOLUTION: Energizing control for a heating body 6 is stopped immediately after the trailing edge of material to be recorded 13 rushes in the fixing nip part of a fixing device 12. Alternatively, the energizing control for the heating body 6 is stopped immediately after a margin area at the trailing edge of the material to be recorded 13 rushes in the fixing nip part. In such a case, if an intermediate margin area put between a first image area and a second image area exists on the material to be recorded 13, the energizing control for the heating body is stopped immediately after the first image area rushes in the fixing nip part and the energizing control for the heating body may be restarted for predetermined time before at the point of time when the second image area reaches the fixing nip part.
