A machine inserts lease cords into a single sheet of threads formed, according to pattern, from at least two sheets of different threads wound on a beam as separated layers. As shown, two separated layers from a beam 3 are placed in a clamp 4 over rods 9 and are then jointly placed in a clamp 5 of a stretching machine. Lease cords 11, 12 are placed under the layers and engaged by a fork 59 which is pivoted so that a hook 64 on a belt 62 engages a selected thread 65 from either layer and pulls it out of the clamp 5 and over either lease cord 11 or 12 and under the other depending on which way the fork 59 is pivoted. The pattern mechanism 38 actuates either of two magnetic clutches 46 to rotate either of separators 29 which engages one thread from its layer and feeds it towards a lever 53 which pivots to place the thread in the path of the hook 64. The leaser 22 travels across the machine taking the threads from either layer according to the pattern. |
