<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transform an arbitrary color of an image signal to an arbitrary color according to the property of a display device or user's preference. <P>SOLUTION: In a microcomputer 27, an objective region of color transformation and desired target x and target y after transformation are set based on the user's operation, and a D factor value is calculated according to them. In a region value calculation unit 21, a region value k, which represents a length from the center of the objective region is sought for the entered image signal. In a matrix formation unit 22, a matrix of 3×3 is formed based on the region value k obtained from the region value calculation unit 21 and the D factor value from the microcomputer 27. In a matrix calculation unit 23, the entered image signal and the matrix of 3×3 are subjected to color transformation through operation.
