PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission device which automatically connects transmission line rings such as packet rings without bringing about network faults to construct a network, a method of connecting transmission line rings, and a program for connecting transmission line rings. SOLUTION: A transmission device 205 arranged in a packet ring R2 connects a packet ring R1 and the packet ring R2 by performing an acquisition step of acquiring connection information between the packet ring R1 and the transmission device 205 itself and a reporting step of reporting redundant configuration information showing a mutual connection condition of the packet ring R2 to the packet ring R1, to other transmission devices (201 to 204) arranged in the packet ring R2 on the basis of the connection information.
