An adjustable bicycle stand comprises a U-shaped metal section (4) sliding into a tubular second section (3) and with a toothed track (5) on the first section gripped by a sprung ratchet on the second section. The free end of the outer section has a shaped foot while the free end of the inner section is linked to a clamp via a hinge fitting. To change the stand the user simply presses the ratchet and varies the relative setting of the two sections.
