PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for driving an electrically driven supercharger properly and beforehand according to the operation situation of a vehicle. SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine for a vehicle having the electrically driven supercharger is controlled as follows. First, an evaluation value of a possibility for issuing an acceleration demand by a user within a predetermined time in the future is decided based on operation parameters related to the operation state of the vehicle. Next, the electrically driven supercharger is driven before the acceleration demand is issued by the user based on the evaluation value of the possibility. Here, the operation parameters include at least a part of an amount of brake operation, the increasing speed of the amount of brake operation, a steering angle, the increasing speed of the steering angle, a distance between the vehicle and a preceding vehicle being a vehicle traveling ahead the vehicle, a difference in speed between the vehicle and the preceding vehicle, and the degree of congestion on a road where the vehicles travels.
