1,244,561. Springs. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 12 June, 1969 [30 July, 1968], No. 29816/69. Heading F2S. [Also in Divisions G2-G3] An oscillator comprises a pulsed mass 11 mounted on a thin walled tube 10, the crosssection of which can be varied by controlling the pressure P applied to the tube interior through inlet 14. The mass is pulsed by drive nozzles 15b and the oscillations are sensed by pick-off nozzles 15a. Alternatively, the pulses are produced electromagnetically and the sensing is effected capacitively. The mass may be a hollow oil-filled body arranged to damp the oscillations. In Fig. 4 (not shown), nozzles 15a, 15b and plates 12a, 12b are located below the surface of support plate 13b. In another modification (Fig. 5, not shown), one end only of the tube is supported, the drive nozzles acting on its free end to cause the mass to oscillate linearly. |
