摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To regulate flow of exhaust in a second scroll passage while restricting loss of exhaust energy due to pressure reduction of exhaust. <P>SOLUTION: In a turbocharger 43 installed on the internal combustion engine 11, a scroll chamber 53 around a turbine wheel chamber 52 is parted by a partition wall 56 to a first scroll passage 57 and the second scroll passage 58 in the axial direction of the turbine wheel 45, and exhaust is blown to the turbine wheel 45 from nozzles 61 and 62 on the respective scroll passages 57 and 58. On the internal combustion engine 11, a first exhaust passage 25 to introduce exhaust generated following engine operation to the first scroll passage 56, and a second exhaust passage 26 to the second scroll passage 58 are provided. For regulating only flow of exhaust into the second exhaust passage 26 in accordance with engine operation states, the internal combustion engine 11 has a valve characteristics varying mechanism to vary the valve characteristics of a second exhaust valve 29 between a combustion chamber and the second exhaust passage 26 in accordance with the engine operation states. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p>
