PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an azo pigment, a composition where organic nanoparticles are dispersed and a color filter using the same having a clear tint, high coloring ability and high weather resistance. SOLUTION: The azo pigment is shown by general formula (1) wherein R<SP>1</SP>is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an aryl group and A is a hetero ring forming a 5- or 6-membered ring. The nanoparticles dispersed composition is prepared by mixing a solution where the pigment is dispersed in at least one good solvent for the pigment with a poor solvent compatible with the above solvent in the presence of a binder containing an acid group which is soluble in an alkaline material, followed by concentrating, whereby the organic nanoparticle dispersed composition wherein thus-produced organic nano particles having a particle size of 1μm or less are dispersed.
