1,180,899. Moving band filter. KOMLINESANDERSON ENG. CORP. 19 July, 1968, No. 34461/68. Heading B1D. A moving, endless filter band 14 is entrained round a vacuum drum, which dips into slurry to be filtered (Fig. 1, not shown) and round a pair of rolls 12,13, of which at least roll 12 is hollow, open at both ends and perforated to enable liquid squeezed from the band in passing round the roll to drain into the roll and out of its ends. This prevents liquid accumulating in the band, where it would cause sagging and misalignment. Sprays 20 and/or 22 direct washing water on to the band, and the hollow roll draws off water from between the band and roll at points 15, 16. The holes 27 in the roll 12 are arranged in four axial rows, 90 degrees apart round the roll, and staggered axially (Fig. 3, not shown). The holes are chamfered and the ends of the roll are supported by stub-shafts and spiders. |
