<p>An operating system for a gas spring, e.g. for a hospital bed or office chair etc., has the valve operating shaft (3) sliding through the piston rod (1) and operated by two linked lever systems (18, 19) each of which can be fitted to one of a number of pivot points (30 to 33, 25 to 27) to adjust the mechanical advantage to enable the gas spring to be adjusted with a minimum of manual effort. The operating faces of the levers have a toothed profile.</p> |
