<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coupler securely engageable by a simple operation and disengageable before damage when an excessive force beyond a normal use range is applied thereto. <P>SOLUTION: As a coupling holding means 20 for holding the coupled state of a socket S10 to a plug P10, an engagement projection 22 is formed on the plug P10 and an engagement recess 21 is formed in the socket S10 so that they can be surely engaged with each other by the operation of engaging the plug with the socket after passing the plug over the socket during the coupling. The plug P10 comprises a cam part 31 tilting generally along the circumferential direction around the fitting and coupling direction. The socket S10 comprises a cam follower part 31.
