The catheter has an oblong, cylindrical unit (1) with an axial interior (2), radially running openings (3) and an outer surface (4) that has a recess (5) in the form of a groove and running in a longitudinal direction. The openings extend from a base surface of the recess to an inner surface of the interior, where transitions are rounded from the outer surface of the unit to a side surface of the recess. The transitions are rounded from the side surface of the recess to the base surface.
