SOLUTION: This medium distinction information database production device has: a temporary registration part 14 extracting candidate information capable of becoming the medium distinction information of the medium 2 from image data and registering it in registration candidate databases 15a-15c associatively with the medium 2, when it is decided that the medium distinction information related to the medium 2 is not held in the medium distinction information database 12 by a decision part 13; and registration parts 16a-16c registering the candidate information into the medium distinction information database 12 as the medium distinction information associatively with the kind of the medium 2 on the basis of registration frequency of the candidate information into the registration candidate databases 15a-15c by the temporary registration part 14.
