It is intended to provide a lotion which has the high transdermal absorbability of maxacalcitol, can contain maxacalcitol in a chemically stable state and suffers from little dripping when applied to the head. A basic oil-in-water type emulsion lotion containing 22-oxa-1a,25-dihydroxyvitamin D₃, a medium-chain fatty acid triglyceride, a nonionic surfactant and a water-soluble thickener; and a method of treating skin diseases by using the same.
