PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of saving energy without impairing an aesthetic appearance. SOLUTION: This air conditioner has a suction port 4a arranged in a casing front face of an indoor machine 1, a blowout port 5 arranged in a casing lower part, an air blowing passage 6 connecting the suction port 4a and the blowout port 5 in a casing, an air blowing fan 7 arranged in the air blowing passage 6, and a movable panel 21 movable between a first position blocking up the suction port 4a and a second position extending on an upper wall of the air blowing passage 6 by extending from the upper end of the blowout port 5. The movable panel 21 is arranged in the second position when driving the air conditioner. Thus, kinetic energy is converted into static pressure by reducing a speed of air flowing along the movable panel 21, and the energy can be saved by reducing a static pressure increase by the air blowing fan 7.
