PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic engagement and disengagement clutch mechanism in which a clutch is automatically engaged when a torque for driving is applied to a drive side such as a steering wheel. SOLUTION: In this clutch mechanism, a drive plate is fitted to a drive shaft and a driven plate is fitted to a driven shaft on a same axis so that the clutch can be engaged and disengaged by the forward and backward movements of the drive plate. The drive plate has a pushing bush fitted to the drive shaft slidably in the longitudinal and always biased in the backward direction. An inclined tilt groove is formed in one of the inner peripheral surface of the bush and the outer peripheral surface of the drive shaft, and a guide projecting element engaged with the tilt groove is formed on the other. Also, the pushing bush is moved forward by changing the position relation between the tilt groove and the guide projecting element according to the rotation of the drive shaft relative to the pushing bush to press the drive plate directly or indirectly against the driven plate.
