The strip has a linear housing (2) with a base (4), which is formed as a volume body and includes a defined hollow space as a functional space to accommodate linear illuminants (3), an operating electronics and an inner wiring (22) within a body volume. The illuminants are arranged on a narrow side (10) of the base. The base is arranged within a u-shaped metal section (14) and is firmly connected with the section, such that the narrow side is arranged on an open side of the section. The side surfaces and the narrow side of the base are laid in the section without a distance.
