PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oriented membrane composition forming a uniformly aligned membrane without having unevenness, excellent in vertical aligning function and without requiring a high temperature-heating treatment and rubbing treatment, and a liquid crystal-displaying element by using the aligned membrane composition. SOLUTION: This aligned membrane composition contains at least≥1 kind of a compound expressed by general formula (1) [wherein, R<SB>1</SB>to R<SB>5</SB>are each the same or different≥4C hydrocarbon group; R<SB>6</SB>is a≥4C divalent hydrocarbon group; R<SB>7</SB>is -SiR<SB>8</SB>R<SB>9</SB>R<SB>10</SB>or -P(=O)(OH)<SB>2</SB>; and R<SB>8</SB>to R<SB>10</SB>are each the same or different -Cl, -OH, -OCH<SB>3</SB>or -OC<SB>2</SB>H<SB>5</SB>] and further the aligned membrane composition may contain a compound expressed by general formula: R<SB>11</SB>-R<SB>7</SB>[wherein, R<SB>11</SB>ia a≥4 C linear hydrocarbon group; and the R<SB>7</SB>is the same as above].
