PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for inhibiting the formation of bubbles within the coating of an optical fiber. SOLUTION: A fiber is drawn through a curable liquid coating composition, the excessive coating liquid is removed from the fiber, the coating liquid is cured to form a solid protective layer, and thereby the coating is adhered to the fiber.
