PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for image reading and recording originals whereby operations for implementing function settings required for setting numerical data can be simplified and setting operations can be attained in a way of being balanced with recognition of ordinary people, in response to setting of numerical data. SOLUTION: The original image reading apparatus F which a user enters the numerical data so as to be able to select and set functions executionable by the apparatus includes a control means 1 that when null numerical data for functions to be set are entered, the functions can automatically be set ineffective.
