PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for charging backup batteries which prevents a sneak current from being generated between a plurality of the backup batteries after they are charged. SOLUTION: In the method for charging a plurality of the backup batteries B1, B2 used by a normally used main power supply 20 only when they are necessary, two backup batteries B1, B2 are initially and separately charged to a first predetermined value, and simultaneously charged to a second predetermined value larger than the first predetermined value in a state that two backup batteries B1, B2 are connected in parallel.
