PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable inkjet recorder which can cap an orifice surface without smudging the orifice surface when capping the orifice surface for maintenance of an inkjet head after suction purge, and which can immediately print when resuming printing. SOLUTION: A purging mechanism is the suction purge of discharging bubbles, dust, etc. in a passage together with ink from an orifice by using a cap which seals the orifice surface of a nozzle, and by reducing a pressure in the cap.
