<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain the deterioration of a storage battery caused by repeating charge/discharge when the storage battery is used as an auxiliary power source for a fixing device when starting up an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: If an image to be formed is an image received by facsimile when the image forming apparatus starts up in order to form an image, the storage battery 102 is not used as the auxiliary power source and a charge mode is kept as it is.
