PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a differential housing capable of preventing the leakage of lubricating oil from a breather hole to the outside even without forming the breather hole in a concave location. SOLUTION: An ring gear 7 is accommodated in a housing body 1 so that a part of the ring gear is projected to the outside from an opening 6 formed at the front end of the housing body 1 and the opening 6 is closed with a housing cover 2. A hard-edged and shaped concave portion 8 along a part of the outline of the ring gear 7 which projects to the outside from the opening 6 of the housing body 1 is formed on the internal surface of a cover gear 3 of the housing cover 2 and a substantially fixed interval is formed between the ring gear 7 and the concave portion. By this, the diffusing direction of the lubricating oil is controlled by the rotation of the ring gear 7 and straightening action to the lubricating oil is generated so that the lubricating oil is hardly engaged to the breather hole formed at the housing body 1 so as to effectively prevent the leakage of the lube oil to the outside of the differential housing.
